Every now and then, it is nice to take an extended break away from home. Our trip to Kauai was just that. As the summer season comes to a close, here's a glimpse into our last hurrah for Summer 2022. Enjoy!

Today in the vlog, we hiked Sleeping Giant mountain in Kauai. It was a lush trail, covered in large groves of tropical trees and a variety of jungle plants. Roots from several of the trees covered a large portion of the path, like a net of vines holding the forest floor together. Enjoy the video!

Hi friends! I hope you are having a fabulous week. This week on my YouTube channel, I made a how to video on cooking a Bacon and Cheese Quiche. It tastes wonderful, and I've made it for several groups of people over the years. Even some people who don't like Quiche have remarked that it is the best Quiche they've ever had. If that encourages you to try it for yourself, I'm overjoyed.

I recently finished the L.L. Bean Book, written by L.L. Bean's grandson Leon Gorman, and it left me with some core takeaways. More than that though, I really enjoyed learning about L.L. Bean and hearing about a bygone era. The way people work has changed a lot over the decades. Without further adieu, here's the video:

I studied film in college, and while that may be common knowledge on this website, that is not common knowledge everywhere.

On that note, here's a video that I have been proud of since the day it was finished. I am publishing it on this site, so that I can share it with friends whenever someone asks if I ever acted in anything, while I was in film school. This is a music video called, "Distance," created by Julius Acero. It used to be up on his Vimeo channel, but has since disappeared. I have had this copy on my hard drive for close to 8 years. Now anyone can see that I was in a film. I hope you enjoy watching it:

Last week, my siblings and I hiked Mount Elbert, and I made a video about it. We used the GoPro 9 which worked out really well for video.

On the non-technical side of things, the hike was beautiful. We arrived at the north trailhead around 5:15am and it was packed. Somehow, we managed to squeeze our car in the lot, and get to the trail.

Once we were on the trail, we got to see the sun rise through the trees. It was pretty spectacular. After about 5:30 hours of hiking, we made it to the summit, and took a short break for lunch. By 11am the storm clouds were forming overhead, and the rain was starting to fall. We began our descent and within the first 15 minutes of hiking down, thunder began to clap. It was enough to motivate us down the hill, and we made it back to treeline in about 2:30 hours or so.

Once we were near tree line, the clouds parted and the sun came back. It was warm and sunny all the way back to the car. The clouds and the rain didn't return again until we were on our way home, and by that time the rain was a deluge. With all of that said, here's this week's video:
